Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) Secretary Adrian Cristobal Jr. (3rd from left) led the inauguration of the new production facility of Zama Precision Industry Manufacturing Philippines Inc. at the First Philippine Industry Park II, Special Economic zone in Santo Tomas, Batangas recently. Secretary Cristobal delivered the speech on behalf of President H.E. Benigno S. Aquino III, saying that Zama’s investment is proof that “consistent government policies have greatly improved business confidence, resulting to more companies, like Zama, setting up shop in the Philippines.” Secretary Cristobal added that Zama’s investment is a vote of confidence in the country and the capability of our people.
Zama, a manufacturer of carburetors for small off-road engines, recently opened its $50 million new production plant in Santo Tomas, Batangas. Expected to produce about 2 million carburetors in 2016, the new facility will generate around 650 new jobs. The facility covers a total land area of almost 60,000 square meters and with about 22,000 square meters of production, warehouse, and office floor space. Production is due to start in April 2016. Apart from providing direct employment opportunities, Zama, as an operator is also engaging suppliers of parts and components to contribute to Zama Corporation’s global supply chain. (END)
