According to the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), it is estimated that 95% of the total volume of cargoes and services to and from commercial and trading centers nationwide are transported by sea. With this, the demand for cargo vessels and other ships are high especially in an archipelagic country like the Philippines. Hence, the development of shipbuilding facilities shall be given strategic priority. It is envisioned that a new shipbuilding or ship repair facility can be constructed in Sitio Naglatore and Kinabuksan for local and foreign markets.
