PTIC New Delhi has co-organized with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) the Seminar on Doing Business with the Philippines on 03 February 2014 at the Federation House, Tansen Marg, New Delhi.

PTIC New Delhi’s Commercial Attaché, Mr. John Paul B. Iñigo, gave a detailed presentation on the trade and investment opportunities available for the Indian businessmen in the Philippines. The total trade between the two countries which has already crossed over USD 1 Billion has always been in favor of India. The undersigned also slightly discussed the opportunities in the PPP sector since the program was originally coined as a PPP seminar, but due to some pressing matters, PPP Center Executive Director Cosette V. Canilao was not able to come.

Mr. Kapil Rampal, CEO of Creative Crest. Mr. Rampal spoke about his experience in doing business in the Philippines. He particularly stressed on the professionalism of PEZA and other government staff that even during lunch time, they would definitely attend to their clients.

During the Q & A session, the most interesting inquiry was from Mr. Raj Mohan of Vasundhara Resources Ltd., a company that is interested in oil exploration. This company shall be referred to PNOC. Another participant, Mr. Anil Gandhi of Feedback Infra was particularly interested in infrastructure projects in the Philippines. Other inquiries were from sectors such as mining, agriculture, healthcare/pharmaceuticals, and agri commodities.

There were also visa queries which were addressed by Consul Mendoza. He specifically mentioned the availability of a visa-free entry facility for Indians who are planning to visit the Philippines. The issue of why the direct flights from New Delhi to Manila was also raised and answered by Ambassador Valeriano.

At the end of the event, the participants were invited by FICCI to join the business delegation to the Philippines which will happen on 4-6 March 2014.
