DTI Secretary Gregory L. Domingo was in Paris on the invitation of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to represent President Benigno S. Aquino III for the launch of the OECD Southeast Asia Work Program on 6 May 2014. In the context of the forthcoming ASEAN integration, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, has crafted a work program for collaboration and sharing of best practices in the ASEAN.
In his remarks during the launch, Secretary Domingo noted the Philippines’ keen interest in collaborating with the OECD in the context of its Southeast Asia Regional Program, in the matters of human capital development, investments and regulatory reform, and broadening the Philippines’ production base through the development of SMEs and unlocking the potentials of innovation-driven business sectors.
The Philippines is currently undertaking an Investment Policy Review using the OECD-developed international best practice mechanism for assisting countries in attracting foreign investment by strengthening national policies and institutions and creating a sound investment environment for the long term.
