Glenn Peñaranda (right), PTIC-Singapore Commercial Counsellor with Koh Lin Ji, Group Director for International Development, at the recent Singapore Building and Construction Authority (BCA) seminar on outlook for building & construction in Southeast Asia.
Commercial Counsellor Peñaranda invited Singapore firms to partner with Philippine firms in building the needs of a growing economy particularly for Public-Private Partnership (PPP), real estate and tourism projects. A significant project is the Clark Green City by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority.
Singapore firms could also use the Philippines as their regional base and employ Filipino architects, engineers and operators. The country is also a good source of construction materials and finely crafted furniture and furnishings. The Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) biannually holds Manila FAME which features cutting-edge collections of handcrafted products designed by Filipino craftsmen.
The seminar is part of the continued efforts of BCA to support Singapore companies’ growth and overseas expansion. It brought together architects, engineers, surveyors, contractors and developers interested in associated business and construction opportunities in various Southeast Asian markets, as well as insights on the region’s construction prospects.
