Leaño (right) play the gong and wind chime for good luck and fortune during the opening ceremony of the DTI’s Sikat Pinoy National Furniture and Furnishings Fair on 5 November 2014 at the Filinvest Tent in Alabang, Muntinlupa City. The DTI Sikat Pinoy fair aims to bring together the best products from the regions to Metro Manila to reach a bigger domestic market and serve as stepping stone for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to expand their market presence not only domestically but also globally. Manalo said the furnishing and furniture industry is considered as a bright spot in the Philippine economy. In the first eight months of 2014, exports of furniture and furnishings reached USD 234M, a 44-percent increase from USD 156M during the same period last year.
