Description

This investment program seeks to bring business enterprises within the value/supply chain to work hand-in-hand to develop innovative designs and production processes that will lead to increased productivity and international competitiveness and, ultimately, the creation of new products that can be deemed viable in the international market. It seeks to assists FAB investors in coming up with “new materials”, using the many products that can be found in Bataan and its nearby regions, like naptha crackers, oil derivatives, local fibers etc. It seeks to develop talent and technology that would be available to investors inside and around the FAB and nearby Freeports – like Subic and Clark.

Bataan is home to skilled, artistic and educated labor force. Training and using their innate understanding and artistic skills in the processes and designs needed in manufacturing high-end garments/apparels, accessories etc. will result to increased productivity and international competitiveness of locators. It will provide the ability for investors/manufacturers to scale up (or down) quickly; and rapidly incorporate consumer preferences into their design processes.

The FAB hosts the biggest Technical and Vocational Skills Training Center (TESDA); and located within the FAB area is a State University – the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. And only a short distance away, the FAB is near a City (Balanga), which is being developed as a University Town. This City hosts numerous universities, colleges and training institutions. Aside from the AFAB as one of the major partners in this project, the following institutions may also be invited as partners:

    1. The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IP Philippines) 2. The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) 3. The Product Development and Design Center of the Philippines (PDDCP)

The proposedDesigns and Innovation Center will service current and prospective locators in the fields of high-end garments/apparels, accessories, shoes and other similar products, through enhancing their processes and designs capabilities as well as in looking for new products that may be developed using current and innovative production lines/techniques and materials within and around the FAB, thus promoting dynamism and synergy between and among manufacturing/production lines within and around the FAB.

Profile of proponent -

The AFAB is the FAB’s dedicated governing authority under the Office of the President of the Philippines. It is tasked to ensure and promote the viability/success of businesses in theFAB. Touted as the emerging Fashion Manufacturing Hub of the Philippines, it boasts of a budding value/supply chain in the field of high-end fashion manufacturing, leveraging its advantages like low electricity rates and utility costs, skilled and educated labor pool, etc.
