Middle East furniture companies eyeing PH designers, manufacturers


In line with the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Manila FAME, 14 furniture and furnishing companies from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are set to visit the Philippines for potential product sourcing.

The business delegation composed of fit-out contractors for hotels, resorts, restaurants, and cafes, among others, will get to tour the exhibits and engage in business matching sessions with pre-selected companies, as coordinated by DTI. Manila Fame is set to take place from April 21 to 24 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.

“These business delegations are a sign of rising interest in the Philippines from companies in the Middle East, which also makes it an opportune time for Filipino exporters to consider that region’s market, particularly the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries,” said Eric Elnar, Commercial Attaché of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center - Dubai.

Manila Fame expects to showcase products from more than 200 local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the fashion and furniture industry to cater to more than 1000 foreign and local pre-registered buyers.

The Philippine Trade and Investment Center – UAE organized an institutional participation at the 3rd Annual Investment Meeting 2013 held at the Dubai International Conference and Exhibition Center in Dubai, U.A.E. from April 30 to May 2, 2013. The event was a FDI focused-conference program cum exhibition organized by the UAE Ministry of Economy. a platform to project developers to present their projects and an opportunity to meet with serious investors through the pre-arranged B2B/B2G meetings.

Philippine Outbound Mission to Kuwait

Twelve (12 ) Philippine companies participated in the Philippine Outbound Business Mission (OBM) to the Middle East from October 26 to November 7, 2013 to explore market opportunities for Philippine food, cosmetics and wellness products. PTIC Dubai led the OBM, in coordination with the Export Marketing Bureau and assisted by the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait, KSA and Qatar.

During their visit to Kuwait last October 28-30, 2013, the business delegation conducted back-to-back meetings/business matching with about 40 Kuwaiti importers, distributors and retailers at the Costa Del Sol Hotel where samples of Philippine products were on display for the duration of the mission. Philippine Embassy in Kuwait Charge d’ Affaires Lamberto V. Monsanto, who joined the OBM participants at the Costa del Sol Hotel on October 29th gave the Philippine delegation some insights on the nature and peculiarities of the Middle East market and on how to penetrate the Kuwaiti market and make their products competitive in the region.

Design Philippines Goes to the Hotel Show 2013 in Dubai

The Philippines participated at the 14th Hotel Show 2013 which was held last October 28-30 at the Dubai World Trade Center in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The participation was organized by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) and featured ten (10) of the Philippines’ best design-forward manufacturers. Shown here with the Philippine delegation are Ambassador Grace R. Princesa, Consul General Frank Cimafranca, and Commercial Counselor Paisal D. Abdullah. The Philippine Pavilion branded, “Design Philippines” , was able to showcase to the Middle East buyers and visitors the wide array of Philippine contemporary and classical indoor and outdoor furniture and furnishings for hotels, restaurants and similar projects. The beautifully-designed Philippine pavilion stood out especially with the display of our products with distinct design and innovative use of indigenous and industrial materials. The participation at the event (based on partial reports of 6 exhibitors) resulted in sales (under negotiation) of US$5.07 million.
