PTIC–Singapore Commercial Counsellor Glenn Peñaranda shared Philippine business opportunities at the recent Singapore Business Review-SPOKIYO BPO business breakfast in Singapore. The event was organized to highlight the option of outsourcing as a strategy for cost reduction and increasing productivity and with the Philippines as an outsourcing destination. “English proficiency of Filipinos is key. They are also young, dependable, hardworking, and resilient.”

In a 2012 study by GlobalEnglish Corporation, the Philippines was named the world’s best country in business English proficiency, even beating the United States. The Information Technology and Business Process Management industry is one of the biggest drivers of the Philippine economy today. According to the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines, it has contributed US$16 billion in revenues in 2013 and has already hit the one million mark in employment this year.
