Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Nora K. Terrado (second from left) together with (from left) American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines Excutive Director Ebb Hinchliffe, Teradata Vice President for Global Professinal Services David L. Klumb, and Teradata Vice President for Americas Development Centers Robert Cromer cut the ribbon during the inaguration of Teradata’s expansion on October 9, 2014 at the Ecotower located at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig. Teradata taps its Development Center in the Philippines to develop and/or deliver certain data and customer relationships solutions through its analytic data platforms, marketing and analytic applications and consulting services. From its current 400 employees in its first location at the One Technology Tower in BGC, Teradata targets to double their headcount to 800 with their current expansion. According to information technology (IT) research firm Gartner, big data and business analytics will create a demand for 4.4 million jobs by 2015 but only one-third of these positions will be filled. The DTI recognizes the increasing importance of big data analytics as a vital tool for making strategic business decisions, and the significant role that the Philippines can assume in its continuing growth.
