Philippines joins the 2014 Taipei International Food Show


The Philippine Department of Trade and Industry, through its Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) and Philippine Trade and Investment Center – Taipei (PTIC-Taipei), participated in this year’s Taipei International Food Show that was held last June 25 to 28 at the Taiwan World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall. Dubbed as Food Taipei, it is the biggest and most popular food expo being held yearly, garnering thousands of local Taiwanese and foreign visitors looking for food business opportunities.

In line with Food Taipei’s theme of promoting healthy food choices, the 12-booth Philippine Pavilion hosted companies who are into the natural, organic and healthy products industry. The small and medium enterprise food manufacturers and exporters who participated were Alter Trade Corp., Andy Albao Enterprise, DLA Naturals Inc., Fruits of Life Inc., M.Lhuillier Food Products, Miesto International Foods Corp., See’s International Food Manufacturing, Team Asia Corp., Tiongson Marketing, and Tropicana Food Products.

A highlight of the Philippine Pavilion was the live cooking demo sessions done by a Taiwanese chef, who was trained in one of the prestigious culinary schools in the Philippines. He made some dishes and desserts using the variety of Philippine food products of the manufacturer and exporter participants as some of his ingredients.

Philippine Investment Forum co-organised with China Overseas Investment Federation

On June 26, 2014, the Philippine Embassy in Beijing in partnership with China Overseas Investment Federation(COIF) held its third investment forum in 2014.

Her Excellency Madame Ambassador Erlinda Basilio Keynoted the Forum, First Secretary Frank Olea gave an overview of the Philippine Business Environment, Agriculture Counsellor identified opportunities in the agrisector and PTIC Beijing Christine dela Cruz presented investment opportunities in the non-agriculture sector.

The Philippines and EFTA sign Joint Declaration on Cooperation


The Philippines and EFTA Member States signed a Joint Declaration on Cooperation in Westman Islands, Iceland on 23 June 2014. The signing took place at the Eldheimar Museum, which exhibits the effects the volcanic eruptions on the main island in 1973. PFA promotes franchising opportunities at the International Franchise, License and Business Concept Expo and Business Conference in Jakarta


The Philippine Franchise Association (PFA), a member of Asia Pacific Franchise Confederation (APFC) and the World Franchise Council (WFC) and the acknowledged voluntary self-regulating governing body for franchising in the Philippines promoted franchising opportunities at the International Franchise, License and Business Concept Expo and Business Conference (IFRA), which was held on June 20-22 at the Jakarta Convention Center. DTI backs Philippine participation in CommunicAsia 2014

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Singapore supported the Philippine delegation to CommunicAsia 2014 to further enhance the country’s position as Asia’s e-services hub and global leader in information technology and business process management (IT-BPM).

“In participating in Asia’s largest integrated information and communications technology (ICT) exhibit, the Philippines continues to boost its standing as  global leader in IT-BPM with its triumphs in this industry and emerging associated high value processes such as software and applications development, game and creative content development, and big data and business analytics,” DTI Undersecretary Ponciano C. Manalo, Jr. said.

CommunicAsia 2014 ran from June 17 to 20 at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.  The Philippine delegation to this exhibit was led by the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), the enabling association for the IT-BPM industry in the Philippines, and the Department of Science and Technology-Information and Communications Technology Office (DOST-ICT Office), the lead implementing agency of the Philippine government’s ICT related efforts.
